This place came highly recommended. It had a wonderful atmosphere and we were seated right away. I got the chicken clay pot and it had a good flavor but it also reminded me of some of the frozen dinners in flavor profile. It was not bad, but it just was not as good as other restaurants that I have been to. My friend got the vegan pho, and she said the vegetables were charred nicely even though she was not familiar with charred vegetables. In that application. She said they tasted very good, but the broth was pretty bland. It is possible that other dishes have better flavors, but I am not sure what other options there are in the area. Overall the meal was not bad by any means, we tend to prefer dishes with a lot more flavor. I would go back with friends and try a different dish, but I'm not sure if I would go back there without drying other restaurants first.

First time here. Wasn't our first choice but as we walked by, we decided to try it. I saw clay pot and wanted to try it since it was something different that I've never seen at a Vietnamese restaurant. Walked in, greeted by the server, she was very nice and recommended a few dishes. So far so good. One star for her. Here's where it went wrong. I'm thinking okay, lunch price was fairly decent so I ordered the lunch portion as I don't eat that much. Boy was I wrong. It was less than a cup of rice that was soaked in gravy sauce that was overly sweet. It was probably less than a cup of riced cooked. Wow, shock that you would charge $12 for that bowl. Not what I expected from a clay pot rice. My husband ordered the Pho and he said it was alright but one piece of mint is ridiculous and it was $20. Zero star for the food. The only reason I gave it another star is because of the music. We heard some Cambodian music. Not what I would hear in a Vietnamese restaurant but I'll take it since we're Chinese/Cambodian American. Would I return, most likely not.

My husband and I went with some coworkers to Clay Pot while on a business trip. Sadly, when they went they didn't have fried rice. Instead we ordered their chicken Clay Pot. It was really delicious. Chicken, vegetables, white rice and a good broth.

I decided to give Claypot another try after being let down a couple of times in the past, especially since I saw they renovated and brought in new staff. I was hopeful going in, and we were seated immediately, which was a great start. I ordered the deluxe pho and my fiancé got the shaken beef. The pho was okay, I did enjoy the broth, but I found it odd that there were no side veggies served and no chopsticks provided. I’m assuming it’s just a more Americanized approach, which is fine. Unfortunately, my fiancé’s shaken beef was lacking flavor and tasted more like boiled meat or meat cooked with water kind of bland overall. We’re grateful for the food in front of us, so we ate everything. On a positive note, the pork egg rolls were nice and crispy, and the chrysanthemum hot tea was AMAZING hands down the highlight of the visit. If I came back, it would honestly be just to grab that tea to go. Maybe it was an off day, but for now, I still prefer other Vietnamese restaurants in the area.

Can you really get amazing Gluten Free Vietnamese food in Waco, TX? Yes, you can at Clay Pot! We started our meal with Gluten Free Pork Fried Egg Rolls. They were so delicious we had to order another serving!!! For our entrees, we selected Pineapple Fried Rice, Shrimp Fried Rice and Chicken Bun Xoa. All were delicious!!! So if you are in Waco for a weekend getaway or are a local, make the trip to Clay Pot in Downtown Waco. You will be glad you did!!!!
